SGI Dubai 2016 attracts the retail display sector

Last week, James Cannone, our sales manager for Africa and the Middle East, attended SGI Dubai 2016 with the team from Canon Middle East. Taking a place on the Canon stand to assist in the demonstrations of display products at SGI Dubai 2016, in support of the printer demonstrations taking place. James showed just what can be achieved with the winning combination of high quality print equipment and superior display and print media products. Interest in applications for digital print was high, with many visitors keen to explore the options for themselves, Canon sold a number of Océ Arizona printers throughout the course of the three-day show. Members of the retail print and display sector found the Innova range of image display products particularly interesting. The Innova display range includes GOframe, PinchBook™ and JetMaster Image Display Systems. With regular demonstrations taking place visitors to the show were able to hands on with the products and see just how simple it is to create eye catching image displays without having to learn specialist skills. Also popular as and option for retail décor on point of sale graphics is YouTac® Textile, an adhesive backed printable textile media compatible with aqueous, eco-solvent, latex and UV print technologies. Jim McHugh, JetMaster® and FibaPrint® at Experience 19: TOUCH

Portraits of artists at work or in their studios, photographed by Jim McHugh, hung alongside original works of art by many of them; Experience 19: TOUCH is not to be missed. Living and working in Los Angeles over the past forty years, Jim has documented the city of angels and formed lasting friendships with many artists, following them throughout their careers. Those friendships are captured in this show; portraits of the artists, photographed by Jim using big view film cameras, hang next to original pieces from the artists’ studios. Telling a story of these artistic relationships as well as capturing the magic of the art scene in LA over the last four decades. The work of Jim McHugh represents a true expression of digital innovation meeting traditional film photography. The appeal of using film in the 21st century means that Jim McHugh gets to spend a lot of time with his subjects, capturing the experience in his own individual style. A long-time fan of Innova digital media, many of Jim’s original film transparencies and Polaroid shots have been transformed into large format digital prints and are displayed in the show on a selection of our archival papers and canvas. Large format portraits, including a 5x7 foot image of German artist Thomas Demand printed on Innova matte archival canvas, chosen by Jim as it ‘gives a visual feel more like paper.’ This media has been used as the base for a selection of images in the Experience 19: TOUCH exhibition, alongside prints on Innova FibaPrint® papers – the digital equivalent to traditional darkroom papers. One challenge faced by Jim during the production of the exhibition was how to present a series of recent photos of street [...]

Lots of interest at Photo Plus Expo, New York, October 22-24th

Last week Innova took a stand at the annual Photo Plus Expo at the Javits Centre in New York City. We had a great time; many people were drawn in by the stunning aerial photos by Ken Scruggs and transformed into art prints by the Photoshop talents of David Osborn. It was fantastic to have such a positive response to the images on the booth and even better to hear some of the stories visitors told. With over 21,000 creatives attending the conference arranged by Photo District News magazine each year it was not a surprise to hear that the Innova booth in the expo hall was busy for the duration of the show. A selection of professional photographers, enthusiasts, film makers and educators stopped by to find out more about fine art printing and how they can get the most from their images using Innova papers. A product drawing a lot of interest was the Innova Art Cards, 220gsm matte art paper stock, coated on two sides so you can print a design on the outside and a message on the inside. Pre scored for easy folding, no need to print your photo separately and attach with messy glue and available in two sizes, packed in quantities of 100 cards and envelopes, Art Cards are the simple way to send out portfolio samplers, exhibition invites or great if you need a last minute greeting card and can’t get to the store. Always popular is the FibaPrint® Range of fine art photographic papers, a pioneer of digital darkroom technology, Innova set the bar for high quality digital equivalents to traditional darkroom papers. This was proven by the amount of interest in the range at Photo [...]

Innova Art: another perspective on the bigger picture at Photo Plus Expo

Take flight with Innova Art at Photo Plus Expo (NY, Oct 22-24), where the leading digital media company presents an exhibition of specially commissioned aerial photo-art by Ken Scruggs and David Osborn. Shown for the very first time at Photo Plus Expo, the images present a stunning new perspective on our world. As the founder and owner of Midwest Aerial, Ohio, Ken Scruggs is one of the world’s leading exponents of aerial photography. With six aircraft, three state-of-the-art DMC II-140s and four Zeiss RMK TOP film cameras, Midwest Aerial leads the field in the airborne acquisition of high-quality digital imagery and photography for clients and business partners in both the private and public sectors. Scruggs first met the award-winning photographer David Osborn this summer when he attended one of Osborn’s Photoshop workshops. Scruggs wanted to learn new techniques for improving his personal work, and knew he could look to Osborn for expert advice. The British photographer’s 35-year career in photo-journalism and international corporate work, together with his early adoption of digital technology, have made him a highly sought-after tutor and workshop leader, specialising in black and white landscape photography and digital retouching techniques. In the event, the meeting produced a two-way exchange. “After discussing what Ken did for a living, I could see the fine art potential of the aerial photo images,” says David. “I offered my skills to demonstrate some of the Photoshop processes that could be used to enhance his images into something truly amazing.” “Aerial photo-art offers another perspective on the world we all share. Thanks to digital imaging technology, matched to the supreme quality of Innova Art’s fine art digital media, it reveals both the wonders of nature, and the scale [...]
