Sharing the colours of our planet: Innova Art at FESPA 2020

The riotous colours of some of the earth’s wildest places will be the theme of the Innova Art stand (A6, Hall 7), at FESPA Global Print Expo, 24-27 March 2020. One of a few digital media specialists founded this century, and the winner of countless awards for its products, Innova Art is one of the world’s most inventive digital print substrate manufacturers. For FESPA 2020, Innova Art has teamed up with the acclaimed artist and tireless environmental activist John Dyer. Founder of Last Chance to Paint, the artistic programme he devised to excite young people about saving the environment.  John’s dazzling canvases, painted on the spot in the Borneo rainforest are alive with colour. Accompanied by behind the scenes photography, the Innova Art stand at FESPA 2020 tells the story of Last Chance To Paint chapter two: Person of the Forest. Innova Art’s award-winning print substrates and display media capture in impeccable detail all the exuberance and drama of John’s colour-saturated paintings, and the effect is truly uplifting.  Each chapter of Last Chance To Paint inspires young people to create their own artwork, to upload it to the Last Chance to Paint online gallery and to get involved with action against climate change. “Planet Earth is in trouble. Peoples, plants, animals and environments are being lost at an alarming rate,” John says. “Through art, children will make personal connections to the world so they choose to tread gently as they grow. We can help to change the world, one painting at a time.” Person of the Forest saw John and his team meet members of the Penan tribe. Learning about how their way of life has changed because of deforestation. Later in the trip John [...]

Last Chance To Paint: Back From Borneo

Exploring Climate Change Through Art With Last Chance To Paint In March this year eInnovation News had a conversation with artist John Dyer. At the time John was just about to embark on his most ambitious project to date: Last Chance To Paint. Since then John has lead two expeditions to explore the impact of climate change on the people, plants and animals of the rainforest in the Amazon and Borneo. Last Chance To Paint is inspired by a previous project called Spirit of the Rainforest. Here John painted with Amazon Indian Nixiwaka Yawanawa. As a fitting start to the latest project, chapter one of Last Chance To Paint is titled Spirit of the Rainforest 2. In this chapter John and the team visited Nixiwaka in the Amazon rainforest. Spending time with the Yawanawa tribe in the Acre region and learning how they live in harmony with the rainforest around them. In chapter two, Last Chance To Paint: Person of the Forest, John and the team trekked into the rainforest once again. This time in Borneo, spending time with the Penan tribe and then travelling south to the Orangutan Foundation. Here the team explored how palm oil plantations are impacting on the environment. The time with the Penan tribe highlighted just how quickly a culture can be changed by environmental influence, with some of the youngest tribe members never having experienced the true hunter-gatherer existence of their elders. At the Orangutan Foundation, the team were up close and personal with climate change when forest fires used to clear areas of rainforest for farming caused them to leave the location early. With more trips planned for the future, we caught up with John to hear how [...]

Salon de la Photo 2019: Behind the scenes of Last Chance To Paint

Explore behind the scenes of Last Chance To Paint: Person of the Forest at Salon de la Photo 2019. Visit Innova Art on stand C012 in Pavilion 5.1 to see documentary photography of John Dyer’s latest adventure.  In September 2019 John Dyer and the Last Chance To Paint team travelled to Borneo to meet the Penan tribe and spend time with the Orangutan Foundation. They were joined live on their travels by many schools worldwide that connected with the experience via social media and satellite links. This November, visitors to Salon de la Photo 2019 will be able to relive their experiences.  Raising awareness of the impact of climate change, Last Chance To Paint aims to engage children through art and music. Encouraging them to form a lasting connection with the world around them and make a difference. During their time in the rainforest, the Last Chance To Paint team met the Penan tribe in their now permanent village home. Whilst in the village they spent time with the tribal elders who remember the time when the Penan were able to move freely and live by hunting and foraging in the rainforest. The team also spent time with the children in the village. Many of whom have never experienced the migratory existence of the tribe. At the local school, John Dyer held workshops where he and the children expressed what it was like to live in the rainforest using traditional artist mediums.  Moving on from the Penan tribe, the team then relocated to southern Borneo to spend time with the Orangutan Foundation. Here John Dyer spent time painting the Orangutans in their natural habitat. The team also learnt about how deforestation for palm oil plantations [...]

Many photographers involved are invisible to the general public, others are celebrated winners of prestigious international awards. All are united on a common journey, that is to celebrate the beauty of humankind. To provide documented evidence of the great wealth of people that inhabit our planet, without any claim of being comprehensive. Create exceptional image displays with products designed specifically for fine art photographic artwork. Innova Art built their reputation on developing high quality inkjet fine art papers for artists and photographers. New JetMaster Dye Sublimation Paper 190gsm and JetMaster Metal capture this quality for the dye sublimation display market. The perfect pairing means master printmakers can create dye sublimation displays that exceed expectations. Specifically for use in the sublimation of rigid substrates, JetMaster Dye Sublimation Paper 190gsm absorbs a high ink load. Capturing the maximum amount of pigment in the paper surface and sublimating the maximum amount of pigment into the surface of your metal plate. There is no need to contend with cockled sheets, the sheet lays flat for full contact during dye sublimation transfer. Full bleed image display makes dye sublimation one of the most popular products in the fine art print market. Crisp, clean image definition around the plate edge is a pre requisite. JetMaster Dye Sublimation Paper 190gsm has high dimensional stability so does not shrink. Ensuring that your print sublimates all the way to the edge of your metal plate with clear images, every time. Featuring a unique coating JetMaster Dye Sublimation Paper 190gsm reduces the sublimation of pigment through the reverse of the paper. Making sure your press is clean and ready for sublimating the next image. The wide colour gamut and fast ink absorption rate combine to make prints vibrant and details sharp. Resulting in a quality that is second to none once sublimated onto your metal plate. Everyone in dye sublimation knows that the paper is only responsible for part of the output quality. The combination of Metal and Dye Sublimation Paper is what makes JetMaster Dye Sublimation Image Display Systems so appealing. [...]

Innova Art to Sponsor Chapter Two of Last Chance to Paint

Founded by artist John Dyer, Last Chance to Paint educates through art. Focussed on global conservation, John and his team travel the world, visiting conservation projects and spending time with local tribes. Last Chance to Paint takes place in various locations world wide. Each project forms a chapter of the story. Highlighting environmental issues and conservation efforts around the world. Archival inkjet media manufacturer Innova Art will be sponsoring the second chapter, Last Chance to Paint: Person of the Forest. In September 2019, John and the team will travel to Borneo to meet the local Penan tribe. They will also spend some time at an Orangutang sanctuary, capturing the experiences using paint and canvas as well as video and photography. Schools that choose to take part in the project can get involved in real time or within their own timetable. Students have the chance to ‘travel’ with John, asking questions via the blog and watching live videos thanks to satellite technology. Teaching resources for each chapter are available to download from the project website, these are targeted at key stage two but can be easily adapted to suit any learning level. Students will get an opportunity to learn about the environment through various conservation efforts. Virtually meeting members of local tribes, learning how environmental issues impact on their daily lives and asking direct questions via the Last Chance to Pain blog and social media. The project also encourages students to think about what impact their local actions may have on the global environment. Last Chance to Paint also gives young artists an opportunity to showcase their work: the online gallery is open to submissions from artists of any age. It is free for schools to [...]
