A Hive of Activity: Innova Art Return From Photo Plus Expo 2017

From October 26th-28th, the Innova team was in residence at the Javits Centre, New York for Photo Plus Expo 2017. Collaborative creative trio Jim McHugh, David ‘Big Sleeps’ Cavazos and Joe ‘Prime’ Reza joined the team on the Innova booth. Throughout the three days, the trade show floor of Photo Plus Expo 2017 was buzzing with action. From seminars and workshops to photo walks and portfolio reviews: photographers who attended were not disappointed. On the Innova Art stand Prime and Big Sleeps were busy creating original pieces by painting onto YouTac® Textile and showing visitors their signature styles. Photographer Jim McHugh stepped in to answer questions about the photographs on the stand and supplied polaroid images for Big Sleeps and Prime to embellish. Jim McHugh, Big Sleeps and Prime also signed prints every day, giving attendees the opportunity to take away a print on Innova paper, signed by all three artists, as well as learn more about what inspired these three creatives to start working together. Elsewhere on the stand the Innova team was on hand. Helping visitors with queries about choosing and testing inkjet paper types. Particularly popular was the print table, featuring papers from the Innova Editions® range. Six surfaces, all OBA free and meeting museum quality archival standards. All the papers within the range were available for Photo Plus Expo 2017 attendees to touch and feel. A limited selection of images was printed on each surface: visitors could see the same image on all six surfaces and visually understand how the paper finish influences the image. Continuing the interactive experience, the full range of JetMaster® image display products from Innova was on show. With a series on instruction videos playing on a [...]

Successful debut for Editions range at Photo Plus Expo 2016

From October 20th to 22nd at Photo Plus Expo 2016, Javits Convention Centre in New York City, the Innova team presented the new Editions range to the US market. Featuring eye-catching vintage Marilyn Monroe photos by Milton H. Greene, courtesy of The Archives, the Innova stand drew in the crowds to see how each of the new grades captured the likeness of one of the 20th Century’s best known icons. Photo Plus Expo is North America’s largest photo and imaging event, the organisers of the show expected over 21,000 attendees to the 2016 event and the Innova team was not disappointed. New customers and long-time users of the Innova brand reacted positively to the new Editions range and packaging: “Exhibition Cotton Gloss has become my go to paper for my gallery shows,” Keith Johnson, Fine Art Photographer “Well, I have to tell you that, using Fabriano Printmaking and Watercolour Rag, we have produced some of the finest prints we have ever made. We found the color rendering most impressive, detail is breathtaking, and we love the textured surface. Going forward, these are the papers we will use for all our fine art prints.” Falcon, Managing Director of NyghtFalcon Photography. In addition to their own stand Innova Art was also featured on the Canon Power of Print Pavilion, operating each day of the show. Innova sponsored several printers on the pavilion, enabling each attendee to get their own image produced on the new Fabriano Printmaking Rag 310gsm paper in the Editions range. Due to exceptionally good promotion from the Canon and Photo Plus Expo marketing teams, the event was so popular that it inspired a foot race to be first in line at the pavilion each [...]

Lots of interest at Photo Plus Expo, New York, October 22-24th

Last week Innova took a stand at the annual Photo Plus Expo at the Javits Centre in New York City. We had a great time; many people were drawn in by the stunning aerial photos by Ken Scruggs and transformed into art prints by the Photoshop talents of David Osborn. It was fantastic to have such a positive response to the images on the booth and even better to hear some of the stories visitors told. With over 21,000 creatives attending the conference arranged by Photo District News magazine each year it was not a surprise to hear that the Innova booth in the expo hall was busy for the duration of the show. A selection of professional photographers, enthusiasts, film makers and educators stopped by to find out more about fine art printing and how they can get the most from their images using Innova papers. A product drawing a lot of interest was the Innova Art Cards, 220gsm matte art paper stock, coated on two sides so you can print a design on the outside and a message on the inside. Pre scored for easy folding, no need to print your photo separately and attach with messy glue and available in two sizes, packed in quantities of 100 cards and envelopes, Art Cards are the simple way to send out portfolio samplers, exhibition invites or great if you need a last minute greeting card and can’t get to the store. Always popular is the FibaPrint® Range of fine art photographic papers, a pioneer of digital darkroom technology, Innova set the bar for high quality digital equivalents to traditional darkroom papers. This was proven by the amount of interest in the range at Photo [...]

Innova Art: another perspective on the bigger picture at Photo Plus Expo

Take flight with Innova Art at Photo Plus Expo (NY, Oct 22-24), where the leading digital media company presents an exhibition of specially commissioned aerial photo-art by Ken Scruggs and David Osborn. Shown for the very first time at Photo Plus Expo, the images present a stunning new perspective on our world. As the founder and owner of Midwest Aerial, Ohio, Ken Scruggs is one of the world’s leading exponents of aerial photography. With six aircraft, three state-of-the-art DMC II-140s and four Zeiss RMK TOP film cameras, Midwest Aerial leads the field in the airborne acquisition of high-quality digital imagery and photography for clients and business partners in both the private and public sectors. Scruggs first met the award-winning photographer David Osborn this summer when he attended one of Osborn’s Photoshop workshops. Scruggs wanted to learn new techniques for improving his personal work, and knew he could look to Osborn for expert advice. The British photographer’s 35-year career in photo-journalism and international corporate work, together with his early adoption of digital technology, have made him a highly sought-after tutor and workshop leader, specialising in black and white landscape photography and digital retouching techniques. In the event, the meeting produced a two-way exchange. “After discussing what Ken did for a living, I could see the fine art potential of the aerial photo images,” says David. “I offered my skills to demonstrate some of the Photoshop processes that could be used to enhance his images into something truly amazing.” “Aerial photo-art offers another perspective on the world we all share. Thanks to digital imaging technology, matched to the supreme quality of Innova Art’s fine art digital media, it reveals both the wonders of nature, and the scale [...]
