Innova Art Partners with Cortona on the Move

Innova Joins as Technical Partner for Thirteenth Edition of the Tuscan Photography Festival Cortona on the Move encourages photographers to be constantly seeking new ways of seeing the world. Questioning and observing, documenting, and celebrating the full spectrum of human experience. The festival provides a platform for this dynamic showcase of visual storytelling. An annual event dedicated to cutting edge contemporary visual communication, first established by ONTHEMOVE cultural association in 2011. Cortona on the Move takes over the streets and exhibition venues in this Italian town every summer. The 2023 festival follows the theme “More or Less”, exposing connections and interpretations through the lens of photography. Cortona on the Move 2023 will feature an exploration of current affairs across the whole spectrum of society, class, and culture. Exploring the meaning of these diametrically opposed conditions and seeking understanding of how the perception translates: if there really is opposition or simply different perspectives. For the thirteenth edition of Cortona on the Move, Innova has joined as a technical partner. Supplying the paper for many of the exhibitions printed by Center Chrome fine art printers for the festival. “Innova Art is proud to be partnering with such an open minded and forward thinking organisation like ONTHEMOVE cultural association.” Says Innova Art CEO, Nevelle Bower, “knowing that the work of so many skilled photographers will be exhibited on our papers is a privilege. It is an honour to be involved in Cortona on the Move 2023” Covering a diverse range of subjects and styles, every exhibition is united by the stories told in each image. From the documentation of Working Class Heroes by Chauncey Hare, to the exploration of historical memory in Warlike Approaches to Tourism: All Inclusive [...]

Innova Shows the Future at FESPA 2023

Returning from FESPA Global Print Expo 2023 (May 23-26) Innova Art celebrates the launch of the D-print: the new dye-sublimation alternative to C-print. With over 500 exhibitors and an estimated 15,000 visitors FESPA Global Print Expo 2023 continued the upward recovery trend of post-pandemic events. More exhibitors returned for the first time, taking advantage of reduced travel restrictions, bringing more visitors into the halls. This was all reflected on the Innova stand. Accompanying the usual turn out of European attendees was a significant increase in the number of visitors from Asia and the Americas. Drawn in by Innova Art’s reputation for creating cutting edge inkjet fine art and photographic media over the last 20 years. Each visitor to the stand was keen to embrace the latest printmaking revolution. Intrigued by the possibilities provided by dye-sublimation technology, they explored the full range of D-print media available in the Innova Supernova Sublimation range. Many visitors in attendance were supplying C-type prints to their customers using traditional RA4 processing equipment. All were enthralled by the flexibility of switching to a dye-sublimation alternative. The ability to augment their current product offering also appealed to visitors on the Innova Art stand at FESPA Global Print Expo 2023. Visitors currently specialising in textile printing saw the opportunity to maximise output from their calendar heat presses by diversifying into high end fine art and photo reproduction. Innova Supernova Sublimation products are ideal for presenting high quality graphics in small and large formats across a range of applications, from light boxes to gallery displays. Producing comparative results to those on traditional C-print media, Innova Supernova Sublimation D-print media offers many benefits. Innova Art: Celebrating 20 Years

First established in 2003, Innova Art celebrates 20 years in the fine art inkjet media market this year. One of the first inkjet media manufacturers established in the 21st Century, the company is still run by two of the original founders. As part of the twentieth anniversary celebrations, Mike Ramos-Gonzalez and Wayne Connelly sat down to reminisce over the last two decades. Based on opposite sides of the Atlantic, Mike and Wayne have worked closely for years. Including a decade in the fine art paper industry before they set up Innova Art. “We set up Innova Art to broaden the market,” says Wayne Connelly, from the USA. “We believed we could help the market to develop by introducing more economical products with the same high quality as existing products in the market at the time.”  “We were driven by 21st Century thinking around 21st Century applications,” adds Mike Ramos-Gonzalez, from the UK. Innova Art quickly became established as one of the top three players in the archival inkjet media market. “Our go to market strategy is very different from our competitors…we’re the white box own-branding alternative.” Mike muses.  “Our initial thinking was the fast will eat the big” Wayne interjects. The company has grown beyond initial predictions from the founders. With more staff and more equipment than they ever planned to invest in twenty years ago. “In the past five years we’ve put in more key personnel so we are not making every decision…It’s more than we planned at the start but it’s also more than we knew we needed.” Observes Wayne. “We have a facility that specialises in the conversion of digital fine art materials that is second to none in the world…We’re proud [...]

Meet the D-Print at FESPA Global Print Expo 2023

Visit Innova Art on stand E37 in Hall B1 at FESPA Global Print Expo, Munich, May 23-26 2023. Hailed as the new alternative to C-print reproductions, the D-print uses existing dye-sublimation equipment but relies on a whole new range of media. Receptive dye-sublimation media in the Innova Supernova Sublimation portfolio provides printmakers with material to produce backlit, glass and gallery displays. All with vibrant colours, crisp details and smooth tonal ranges. Two Gallery Display Surfaces Innova Supernova Chrome is a flexible dye-sublimation receptive media which, according to Rochester Institute of Technology, “is the closest paper that mimics the traditional Ilfochrome Deluxe paper from years ago.” The high gloss surface of Innova Supernova Chrome encapsulates the ink and creates a hard wearing, high impact display. Innova Supernova Baryta features a paper base modelled on the fibre based surfaces found in chemical darkrooms. Utilising dye-sublimation technology, prints are brought to life on the high gloss surface. Three New Surfaces Innova Supernova Translite is a dye-sublimation receptive light diffusing polyester film. The surface of this film is capable of capturing a wide colour gamut and producing dense blacks. Ideal for backlit promotional and advertising displays. Innova Supernova Clearlite is a dye-sublimation receptive film ideal for transparencies, decorative screens and glass decals. The surface is completely clear, so any areas without ink remain totally transparent. A scratch and solvent resistant finish makes it a great option for high traffic areas. Innova Supernova Matte will be previewed for the first time at FESPA Global Print Expo 2023. Perfect for large format displays, the dye-sublimation receptive surface of this film features a matte finish. Reducing reflections and creating a more refined feel when compared to prints produced on high gloss surfaces. [...]

Innova Supernova Chrome Mimics Traditional Ilfochrome Deluxe Paper Says R.I.T.

After an introduction to Innova Supernova Chrome as a dye-sublimation alternative to the C-Print process, Eric T. Kunsman decided to investigate further. Click Here to Download the Full RIT Report Kunsman has years of experience using Lambda printers to produce C-prints using the RA (Radio Alpha) 4 silver halide process. These years of experience have shown him that not only are Lamda printers capable of excellent output quality, they can also be difficult and expensive to maintain. The dye-sublimation process on the other hand is a growing technology. The output on Innova Supernova Chrome mimics the continuous tone of the traditional RA4 C-print process. Dye-sublimation printers and presses can be run using a relatively low maintenance process, without the need for multiple recalibrations per day required when using RA4. On top of that the cost to set up a dye-sublimation process from scratch can be as little as one-quarter of the set-up for an RA4 process and the learning curve is not particularly steep. After seeing an example of Innova Supernova Chrome, Kunsman felt the output visually matched the C-print quality. But did it match on a technical level? As an assistant professor at  Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), he set his students the challenge to find out. Working alongside the visual communications students, Kunsman developed a series of intensive tests to analyse the performance of Innova Supernova Chrome in comparison to the leading RA4 process medias. The results spoke for themselves. Innova Supernova Chrome matched or out-performed the RA4 medias in every area. Leading to the conclusion that it is a true alternative for traditional processes using media such as Ilfochrome Deluxe Gloss. Click here to read the full report.

Innova Art exhibited alongside IT Supplies at ISA Expo 2023 (April 12-14) showing the latest developments in their dye-sublimation receptive media.  The halls were buzzing at ISA Expo 2023 as the North American trade show market continues to recover after years of disruption. Visitors returned to Las Vegas in force to experience the latest and greatest products on offer from the sign industry. The experience for Innova kicked off with a presentation from Global Supply Chain and Quality Manager, David Williams. Speaking to the IT Supplies team in attendance, Williams created an educational rundown on the features and benefits of the latest revolutionary product from Innova Art: Innova Supernova Chrome. This dye-sublimation receptive film is set to take the market by storm. Providing printmakers with the opportunity to offer cost effective alternatives to the traditional c-print process and to expensive rigid medias. The flexible surface encapsulates vibrant colours and deep blacks whilst providing multiple options for shipping and display.  Jeff Lucido, CRO/General Manager of IT Supplies was in attendance alongside the wider team at ISA Expo 2023. “Everyone loved the price point of Innova Supernova Chrome,” he says. “Compared to ChromaLuxe it is easy to achieve the same look by simply mounting the Chrome to a rigid material.” Not only did the price point of Innova Supernova Chrome catch visitors attention. The ability to complete the process in multiple locations was also a major selling point. “It’s great that the sublimation process and the mounting process can take place in two different locations. Innova Supernova Chrome is flexible so can be rolled into a tube after sublimation and shipped to a location close to the final display point for mounting. It completely removes the stress [...]

Innova Art Launches the Future at FESPA Global Print Expo 2023

Visit Munich this May to experience the future of photographic quality reproduction at FESPA Global Print Expo 2023. They say the old ones are the best. But the passage of time means old often becomes obsolete. Equipment becomes expensive to maintain. Consumables become impossible to acquire. Before you know it old, has become antique. The digital print industry is no different. Beginning in the 1990’s the revolution started with the introduction of inkjet printers, replacing the chemical darkrooms that had been around for centuries. Innova Art was there at the forefront, introducing the first baryta type fibre based paper in 2006: the award winning FibaPrint® surface. Technology has moved on and continues to change. Floppy disks are gone. CD storage is in the past. Today you are more likely to store images in the cloud than on a hard drive. With each turning of the technological wheel, files are lost, images capturing a moment in time disappear into bits and bytes. Print remains the most enduring form of storage for images and ephemera. You only need to browse a newspaper archive to be able to see how the presentation of advertising has evolved over the centuries. A new revolution is upon us. Innova Art is launching the next leap in print reproduction media for photography and advertising. Capturing the quality of the traditional C-Print, but utilising the cutting edge reproduction capabilities of dye-sublimation. The D-Print reproduces thousands of colours in vibrant reality. Perfect for printing high quality advertising displays, fine art photographic displays and flexible enough to wrap around architectural features. “We cannot wait to show the world the D-Print,” says Innova Art Co-Owner, Mike Ramos-Gonzalez. “The Innova Supernova Sublimation range gives printmakers the opportunity [...]
