We promised, didn’t we, that there would be nice surprises in store for visitors to the Innova Art stand at Photokina 2016, Cologne, Germany, 20-25 September?

Well, we got it right – our delighted customers said so.

We raised the curtain on the new Editions range – comprising five archival cotton-based papers and one baryta paper specially formulated for digital printing – and it proved an instant hit.

The response of NyghtFalcon, USA, which had put the two new Fabriano papers, Fabriano Artistico Watercolour Rag 310gsm (IFA 108) and Fabriano Printmaking Rag 310gsm (IFA 107), through their paces just prior to the show, was typical:

So, now there’s nothing we know that you don’t. But possibly, given the rave reviews and the number of prizes Innova Art has won over the years, you knew whatever news we had, it was going to be good.

There have been a lot of developments to the Innova Art range of products over the last few months and Stand A6/C5 in Hall 3.1 at Photokina 2016 will be the place to be to see them all. See our newest image display products including brand new panoramic size 8×20″ JetMaster Photo Panels and Hexagonal GOframe canvas stretching systems. Demonstrations will be taking place daily on the stand so you can see just how easy it is to make these professional image displays yourself.

In addition to the new developments in the JetMaster and GOframe ranges we will also be showing Pinchbook Photobooks: album and photo book covers that make binding so simple it only takes seconds. These products are the ideal addition to your print shop display range making great upsell options when combined with the Innova range of inkjet papers.

Our media range has also developed over the last few months. To reflect to the increasing move towards canvas printing we have now grouped all of our canvas products for aqueous and eco-solvent printing under the Innova Canvas range. This makes choosing the right Innova Canvas for your job even easier – no more cross referencing between multiple ranges. We have changed the names of some of them but all of your old favourites are here from high white matte to natural white ultra-gloss surfaces. There is also a brand new 100% cotton canvas – Exhibition Matte Cotton Canvas 370gsm (IFA 54), natural white and OBA free, the matte surface is perfect for displaying fine art prints.

Our Innova photo paper offering has also been extended with the addition of four resin coated inkjet photo papers. These four new RC medias are all compatible with both pigment and dye inkjet printers and sit alongside our award winning FibaPrint® papers in the newly renamed Photo Art range. The new grouping of these papers means that photographers worldwide can now get every surface type for fine art and photographic inkjet printing under the Innova brand name.

The final piece of exciting news we would like to share with you is the launch of a brand new range of specialist inkjet fine art and photo papers from Innova Art. The Innova Editions range features papers sharing qualities prized amongst fine art and photographic digital printmakers: all of the papers are OBA free and includes 100% Cotton matte and gloss surfaces, as well as our photo baryta paper with true barium sulphate layer.

Exclusively to Innova, the Innova Editions range also features two new Fabriano mould made papers: Fabriano Printmaking Rag 310gsm and Fabriano Artistico Watercolour Rag 310gsm. The Fabriano mill in Italy dates back to the 13^th Century and is known as the birthplace of European papermaking. The launch of Fabriano inkjet compatible art papers marks the first time that artists will be able to produce digital editions of their work on the same papers prized by artists such as Michelangelo and Da Vinci. A combination of traditional paper making techniques and innovative digital inkjet chemistry that makes Innova famous in the 21^st Century; the Innova Editions range represents a true meeting of tradition and innovation.

A great paper can make all the difference to a work of art and no one understands that better than The Archives. Milton H. Greene photographed some of the biggest names in the 20^th Century entertainment industry and The Archives LLC was founded to restore and preserve the archive of his work. The relationship between Innova fine art media and The Archives goes back over a decade and is based on matching peerless images to superlative media – which is why Innova is the paper of choice for print editions from The Archives. This year at Photokina we will be showing a selection of photographs by Milton H. Greene including Sammy Davis Jr., Liza Minnelli and Marilyn Monroe.

We don’t need to tell you that –you’ll have seen the reviews:

Well, thanks Wikipedia, that’s good to know.

But it doesn’t really explain the unique appeal of hexagonal frames.

Certainly they present something different (and who doesn’t like different?). Hexagonal frames are eye-catching, they’re fun. Also, as Wikipedia explains, you can get more of them to your square metre of wall space:

“From bees’ honeycombs to the Giant’s Causeway, hexagonal patterns are prevalent in nature due to their efficiency. In a hexagonal grid each line is as short as it can possibly be if a large area is to be filled with the fewest number of hexagons. This means that honeycombs require less wax to construct and gain lots of strength under compression…” (Wikipedia)

So, that’s it then: for geometrical sophistication, space efficiency and all-round robustness, there’s nothing to beat the natural appeal of the hexagon. Make like the bee.

Yes, you say – but how do I convert my digital canvas prints into exciting 3D hexagonal-shaped canvas wraps?

With Innova Art’s GOframe Hex Frame system, of course, launched to the international photo, art and framing market at this year’s Photokina, Cologne, 20 – 25 September 2016.

Take a Hex frame corner kit containing pre-cut bars in standard 5″ lengths. There are 36 bars in every kit, meaning you can create 6 hexagonal stretched canvases from every box you buy. You’ll also need your canvas print, a canvas trimmer and some archival quality glue, but that’s it – you’re good to go.

Remove the adhesive tape from the bars and position them on the back of the canvas (apply a little pressure to secure them). A little glue at this stage ensures your canvas print will stay put for a lifetime and remember, the archival properties of our product means the print is protected for posterity. The last stage is to insert corner pins to make the hexagon shape.

And that’s it.

Finished frames have an edge depth of 1.25″ which means they stand out against any backdrop. They can also be used as free standing desk displays. Hexagons are the perfect way to add novelty to an image – and, with GOframe Hex Frame, perfectly easy to produce.

There will be exciting new developments in Innova’s inkjet fine art media range and there will be some news about photo display products as well.

Tantalising we know, but to say much more than that just wouldn’t be fair…

Of course, you won’t be surprised to hear that there will be a display of exquisite prints on the stand, this year Innova Art will feature the work of Milton H. Greene, world famous photographer of Marilyn Monroe at her most ravishing and iconic. It’s not news that the relationship between Innova Art and the Milton H. Greene Archive goes back over a decade and is founded on matching peerless images to superlative media.

You are right to expect to see the premium inkjet fine art and photo papers from our Innova Fine Art, FibaPrint and Olmec ranges, alongside our award-winning retail solutions products: JetMaster, Pinchbook and GOframe – all of them presented and explained by the Innova Art staff team.
