Project Description

Barrie Tumbridge developed his art working as a portrait photographer in and around the County of Essex. During this time he became President of the Master Photographers Association, a post he held for two years. He also won several awards for his work. In 1991 he closed his studio to follow a different career path. However, photography remained a very important part of his life and it wasn’t long before the new digital technology drew him back to photography. For the past 20 years he has concentrated on Landscape photography and takes every opportunity to travel, mostly in the UK, to create his images and to teach photography to anyone who shares the same passion, whether they are full time, part time or hobby photographers.

Barrie’s thoughts on Innova
“When I first started to print my own work I was frustrated with the quality of paper available for inkjet printing. I tried so much paper and wasted ink trying to achieve the quality I wanted. When visiting a major photographic show I was persuaded by Wayne at Fine Art Foto to try the Innova Range of papers. After a few test prints I was just astounded by the quality of colour and detail I was able to produce. I print only to A3+ using an Epson R3000 printer but may well look at going much larger.

I use mostly the FibaPrint® range of papers, warm cotton gloss, IFA 45 and ultra smooth gloss, IFA 49. I love the weight of the paper and the surface, which is very smooth but with a slight texture that adds to the quality of the finished image. It has the ability the capture subtle colour changes as well as very fine detail. I am about to start working with more Black and White and looking forward to using some of Innova’s Matte papers. I have no doubt the quality will be as good as everything else they make.”
