Hailed as the new alternative to C-print reproductions, the D-print uses existing dye-sublimation equipment but relies on a whole new range of media.

Receptive dye-sublimation media in the Innova Supernova Sublimation portfolio provides printmakers with material to produce backlit, glass and gallery displays. All with vibrant colours, crisp details and smooth tonal ranges.

Two Gallery Display Surfaces

Innova Supernova Chrome is a flexible dye-sublimation receptive media which, according to Rochester Institute of Technology, “is the closest paper that mimics the traditional Ilfochrome Deluxe paper from years ago.” The high gloss surface of Innova Supernova Chrome encapsulates the ink and creates a hard wearing, high impact display.

Innova Supernova Baryta features a paper base modelled on the fibre based surfaces found in chemical darkrooms. Utilising dye-sublimation technology, prints are brought to life on the high gloss surface.

Three New Surfaces

Innova Supernova Translite is a dye-sublimation receptive light diffusing polyester film. The surface of this film is capable of capturing a wide colour gamut and producing dense blacks. Ideal for backlit promotional and advertising displays.

Innova Supernova Clearlite is a dye-sublimation receptive film ideal for transparencies, decorative screens and glass decals. The surface is completely clear, so any areas without ink remain totally transparent. A scratch and solvent resistant finish makes it a great option for high traffic areas.

Innova Supernova Matte will be previewed for the first time at FESPA Global Print Expo 2023. Perfect for large format displays, the dye-sublimation receptive surface of this film features a matte finish. Reducing reflections and creating a more refined feel when compared to prints produced on high gloss surfaces.

Flexible Production and Display

Prints intended for Innova Supernova Sublimation receptive media can be produced on any dye-sublimation transfer paper. Using any dye-sublimation inkjet printer.

All dye-sublimation receptive media in the Innova Supernova Sublimation portfolio are available in both roll and sheet format. Prints can be produced on a flatbed heat press or in a roll-to-roll set-up using a calendar (rotary) heat sublimation press.

No need for chemical washes or bleach, such as those used in the RA4 silver halide process. And no need for regular recalibration of equipment throughout the day.

Once sublimated, finished prints can be mounted to hard surfaces for rigid display, wrapped around curves as part of interior designs or shipped in tube format for any finishing processes to take place elsewhere.
