Beautiful Country, the theme for Cortona On The Move 2026, explores the contemporary, cultural and historical aspects of Italy. Through the lens of more than 30 photographers, visitors experience folklore, relationships and everyday life framed by the unique Italian experience. It is an opportunity to reflect on the passing of time without influence of passing trends.

Peninsula, the headline exhibition of Cortona On the Move 2026, is an original commission curated by Artistic Director Renata Ferri. Featuring ten photographers, the collection tells a story of Italy as a place of inspiration, a destination for cultural experiences and a place many people call home. Presented in the historical surroundings of Fortezza del Girifalco, each exhibition space flows into the next, following a multifaceted story.

Echo Chamber by Guilia Parlato shows a rarely seen part of the Italian landscape. Exploring the subterranean world of caves, catacombs and air raid shelters. Smaller Lagoon by Matteo de Mayda presents an alternate angle of Venice, one of Italy’s most well known locations. Entirely bypassing the expected stereotype of bridges and gondolas, the project focuses on the complexity of the lagoon system and the unique environment created for wildlife. Mistral by Arianna Arcara explores an intensely personal relationship with Sardinia which grew and evolved through observation of the relationship between place, memory and the stories people tell.

Rest Stop: Italy Through the Lens of the Eni Archives | Cortona On The Move 2026

Other venues hosting exhibitions for Cortona On The Move 2026 continue the narrative of a country continually changing or forever immortalised, depending on the perspective. Rest Stop: Italy Through the Lens of the Eni Archives in Palazzo Baldelli shows the transformation of Italy’s service stations from humble gas pump to complete rest stops featuring convenience stores and motels. The feeling of travel imparted by the development of services catering to drives who went from point A to B, through to those embracing the road trip experience. Sonata by Aaron Schuman, on show at Palazzo Anderini-Gili, explores Italy through a foreigner’s eyes, a series of abstractions, focussing on the detail and creating a sense of mystery around the wider story.

For the opening weekend of Cortona On The Move 2026, there were a series of events spread over the days. Visitors were able to get guided tours of exhibitions, visit the bookshop for launch events and signings as well as participate in evening events including dinners, aperitifs, and live music.

The Innova team were present at Spazzio OFF alongside Center Chrome, the printmaker responsible for producing the exhibitions. Visiting photographers and curators were able to speak with the Innova Art team about the best papers for printing exhibitions or portfolios. Visitors were able to get hands on with the papers used to print the exhibitions, including Innova Editions® Photo Cotton Rag 315gsm (IFA-011), Innova Editions® Exhibition Cotton Gloss 335gsm (IFA-045), Innova FibaPrint® White Matte 280gsm (IFA-039) and more.

Visit Cortona On The Move 2026

Cortona On The Move is open until November 1st, 2026. Tickets are available online. Cortona is located in the Tuscany region with many places to stay in the town and surrounding area.

Cortona On The Move 2026 will be the biggest yet, with more than 30 exhibitions on show. Built around the theme of Beautiful Country, this edition of the photography festival celebrates Italy in all its glory. Inviting viewers to become more aware of the world around them. Artistic Director Renata Ferri has conceived a journey of journeys where photographs become stages for investigation.

As in previous years, work by many photographers will be presented on papers manufactured by Innova Art. Chosen for the ability to match paper surfaces with the creative vision portrayed in each project and for the longevity of archival quality inkjet papers. Featuring prominently this year are selected surfaces form the Innova Editions® range. A portfolio of papers manufactured to museum quality archival standards, including 100% cotton, mould made and OBA free surfaces in a choice of textures and surface finishes.

Cortona On The Move 2026 will take place from July 16^th until November 1^st, in the beautiful town of Cortona. Located in the Tuscany region, this Etruscan town has been perched on a hill over 500 meters above sea level since the 7^th Century BC. Visitors to Cortona On The Move will be able to experience the medieval architecture, wandering cobblestone streets and exploring the interiors of some of the ancient buildings where exhibitions are housed.

Throughout the opening days of the festival (July 16^th-19^th, 2026) visitors will be able to attend talks, book portfolio reviews and learn new skills in workshops. At Spazzio OFF in Palazzo Vagnotti, they will also be able to meet with the Innova Art team and fine art lab, Center Chrome, the printmaker behind producing so many exhibitions for Cortona On The Move. Questions can be asked about the best way to present a portfolio or exhibition. Photographers can get hands on with the paper used to print the images on display, as well as additional medias in the Innova range.

From May 19-22, the halls at Fira Barcelona Gran Via were buzzing with the sounds of FESPA Global Print Expo 2026. Innova Art embraced the new era in its story with a stand display that focussed on showcasing the manufacturing facilities owned by the company. Welcoming distributors, manufacturers and print service providers, the Innova team spent time catching up with familiar faces and meeting new contacts. Discussions centred on new product developments, white label opportunities and specialist coating technologies.

There were many visitors interested in increasing their own brand reach. Distributors visited the Innova stand to discuss opportunities for building their own ranges of inkjet fine art products, utilising the white label service offered by Innova Art. Manufacturers were interested in understanding how the coating capabilities provided by Innova can advance and improve inkjet coated print surfaces.

Products Paved the Way

Particular points of interest included the two new products launched at FESPA 2026, Innova UV Fine Art Smooth Cotton 330gsm (IFA-330) and Innova UV Fine Art Textured Cotton 330gsm (IFA-333). These two surfaces have been specifically developed for use by UV printmakers producing artistic embellishments such as spot gloss or layered mock impasto textures. With a specialist coating, these papers prevent the vacuum on UV roll to roll flatbed printers from pulling the ink through the structure of the paper. This ensures the ink remains on the surface, producing a high end fine art finish.

Alongside the visitors excited to see new products were the fans of the core range from Innova Art. Print service providers stopped by to familiarise themselves with the wide selection of surfaces offered in the Innova Editions®, Innova Fine Art and Innova Photo Art ranges. All archival quality, all compatible with pigment and dye inkjet printers, each range tailored to meet various creative criteria.

Diversification was a strong theme for visitors interested in the Innova Supernova Sublimation range of products. The flexible nature of these surfaces means that they can be sublimated using flatbed or calendar heat presses, making them a great option for textile producers looking to expand into other imaged products. Demonstrations of the production process took place on the Klieverik and Monti Antonio stands at FESPA 2026. This ensured that visitors could see the simplicity of creating hard wearing displays on the full range of Innova Supernova dye-sublimation receptive media.

Foundations for the Next Chapter

FESPA Global Print Expo 2026 proved that the demand for high quality specialist print media continues to evolve. From discussions around white label opportunities and advanced coating technologies, to the launch of innovative new UV fine art papers and continued interest in Innova Supernova flexible dye-sublimation receptive surfaces; the exhibition provided an ideal platform for Innova Art to showcase its manufacturing expertise and product innovation. The event reinforced the company’s commitment to supporting print professionals with market leading surfaces whilst strengthening relationships and establishing new connections that help drive future growth.

After more than twenty years of working with external partners to produce coated fine art media, Innova Art has purchased their own clean room coating plant. Located in the historic industrial heartland of Northern England. The facility will operate under the name Innovation Technology Coatings (ITC).

“We have had our own team of in-house chemists for more than a decade,” says Mike Ramos-Gonzalez, Owner of Innova Art. “They have been working on a consultancy basis with external partners under the name of our sister company ITC. Now they finally have their own facility to call home.”

The chemistry team at Innova Art will continue to develop the bespoke formulations used to coat inkjet fine art and photographic papers in the Innova brand. They will now be able to work in close collaboration with the production team at ITC to refine and innovate at a faster scale. Customers utilising the Innova Art white label service will also be able to benefit: taking advantage of the option to produce coatings tailored to the needs of their own customers. 

“For us this is an opportunity to expand,” adds Dr Nevelle Bower, CEO of Innova Art and Innovation Technology Coatings. “Innova Art will continue to work with our external coating partners. We understand the value that they bring and cannot put a price on how they have helped us grow over the years. Our relationships with them enable us to select the best manufacturing process for our products.”

“At ITC,” Nevelle continues, “we will be able to extend the offering beyond consultancy work. We can now offer a full range of coating services for aqueous and eco-solvent applications. Not just within fine art but continuing to build on the work ITC has already been doing for various industrial and consumer sectors.”

A select few partners of Innova Art have already been to see the new facility. Providing rave reviews of the site and its capabilities. Some chose to take advantage of the opportunity and commissioned the development of their own products, even whilst the facility was in its infancy.

Salon de la Photo 2025 was an opportunity for the photography community in France to come together. Visitors were able to engage with discussions and presentations as well as get hands on with the latest developments in the industry.

On the Innova stand at Salon de la Photo 2025, attendees were able to experience some of the iconic imagery produced by members of the American Photography Archives Group (APAG). Featuring works produced throughout the 20^th Century using traditional photography techniques; the display demonstrated how the life of photographic archives can be extended in combination with modern print techniques. 

Each image was carefully partnered with one of the many surfaces available from the range of archival inkjet media manufactured by Innova Art. Including fibre based baryta style photo papers, smooth and textured matte fine art surfaces and even canvases and resin coated photo papers.

Visitors were impressed with the range of media on display, drawn in by the eye-catching images. Conversations on the stand covered varied topics from how to get started producing your own inkjet prints, what to do if you do not have your own printer, and the best ways to work with files to ensure a photographers work stands the test of time to be available for generations to come. 

Popular surfaces included the Innova Editions® Fabriano Printmaking Rag 310gsm (IFA-107), a mould made surface produced at the Fabriano mill in Italy. And Innova FibaPrint® Ultra Smooth Gloss 285gsm (IFA-049), from the Innova Photo Art range, a fibre based photo paper developed to replicate the traditional baryta surfaces. Drawn in by the pairing of a traditional feel with the limitless possibilities provided by digital processing and production. Visitors were keen to get started working with their own imagery on the Innova surfaces, with many people taking home a sample pack of both the Innova Editions® range and the Innova Photo Art range. 

Innova Art in France

Salon de la Photo 2025 took place at le Grande Halle de la Villette in Paris, France from October 9^th to October 12^th. Opening on October 9^th 2025, Salon de la Photo is the leading photography trade show in France. Allowing photographers, videographers and content creators the chance to get hands on with the latest kit and face to face with experts in the industry. For this year, Innova Art has partnered with the American Photography Archives Group (APAG) to showcase a curated selection of work from their members. Comprised of images from the 20^th Century, the display on the Innova stand (C063) will feature work from 14 photographic archives.

Visitors are invited to explore American life through a series of iconic images, depicting a collection everyday Americana and images recognised around the world. Each printed on a matched surface from the Innova range of archival inkjet media. “APAG are proud to show the immense talent and diversity of our membership,” says Mary Engel, Executive Director and Founder of APAG. “We are happy to be part of this association with Innova and hope everyone enjoys learning more about the importance of archival preservation.”

Joshua Greene is a printer who made the transition from traditional to inkjet printmaking. A longtime member of the APAG with many years experience managing the archives of his father, Milton H. Greene, he curated the selection of images for display in Paris. Working with Mary to reach out to APAG members. Carefully considering image criteria such as the quality of the scan from original negatives as well as the historical context. The image files were then optimised for printing, ready for display at Salon de la Photo 2025. Resulting in a collection that captures unforgettable moments in time from America.

The range of surfaces available from Innova spans from resin coated photo paper to fibre based baryta style and fine art papers through to archival quality canvases. All coated for use with inkjet printers. Thirty-Six Views of Notre Dame showcases the remarkable photographs of Tomas van Houtryve. Spanning 14 years, the series documents the changing history of the cathedral. From everyday life before the devastating fire in 2019, to ongoing reconstruction efforts. Utilising various photographic techniques, unique perspectives and exclusive access to the site, the exhibition explores the cathedral as a cultural and historical landmark whilst narrating a painstaking reconstruction process.

Curated by the VII Foundation, the show weaves together the story. From a garret window to the tip of a crane overlooking the reconstruction site, van Houtryve reveals the Parisian icon in a visual language both old and new. Moving beyond mere documentary photography, the work explores themes such as the impermanence of cultural heritage, the symbolic significance of reconstruction alongside the connection between architecture and societal transformation.

Notre Dame has long been seen as a cultural and historical landmark, a symbol of resistance and an icon of the Paris skyline. Inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1991 as part of the Paris, Banks of the Seine designation. Van Houtyryve’s photographs provoke reflection, inviting viewers to reconsider the importance of culture and history in their own lives.

This is a theme that resonates deeply in Bosnia and Herzegovina, a country with a rich yet often endangered cultural landscape. Home to several UNESCO listed sites, each carrying profound historical and cultural significance. Reflecting the country’s rich multicultural heritage which is celebrated as part of Sarajevo Fest. Marking thirty years of peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the 2025 edition of the festival explores the themes of the meaning of peace, the prevention of war and what humanity stands to loose from conflicts. Investigated through artistic exhibitions, discussions and workshops.

This exhibition is an opportunity to reflect on what places like Notre Dame mean, how they connect multiple generations and why they are worth preserving. Not just as bricks and mortar but also for the stories they continue to tell.

Each year a town in Tuscany comes alive for a photography festival. Bringing together photographers, curators and art aficionados for an experience like no other. Cortona On The Move celebrated their fifteenth edition with a series of opening events from July 17th to 21st. Marking the start of the three month festival, visitors were able to enjoy workshops, talks and exhibition openings designed to spark conversations.

Collaborating With Community

Many of the 23 exhibitions at Cortona On The Move 2025 are printed on Innova Art papers. Working in collaboration with the festival organisers and fine art print partner Center Chrome, every exhibition has been paired with an Innova surface that compliments the visual style. From 100% cotton papers to baryta type surfaces, a wide spectrum of substrates have been utilised to present these diverse stories.

The Innova Art team attended the opening days of the festival and were present in Spazio Off, at Teatro Signorelli, alongside Center Chrome. The team had the opportunity to interact with a broad spectrum of creative professionals, connecting on many levels. Including meeting many photographers who, in some cases, were seeing their work on Innova paper for the first time.

Cortona On The Move 2025 faces challenges head on, asking how to reconcile after genocide in Blood Bonds: Reconciliation in Post-Genocide Rwanda by Jan Banning. Illustrating unimaginable suffering as a result of the 1994 genocide, but also the transformative power of forgiveness when survivors and perpetrators can gradually rebuild their sense of safety and connection together.

I Have Done Nothing Wrong by Mika Sperling creates a complex dialogue between vulnerability and determination in response to the question: how does one break a family and social taboo? Told in three parts, this is a story investigating the dynamics of family abuse, silence and memory.

Seeing the world through another person’s eyes can give a unique perspective, for the protagonists featured in Supersosia by Ray Banhoff, becoming someone else has lead them to themselves. These lookalikes from across Italy have stepped into the shoes of their idols, experiencing the obsession with fame and interpreting the charisma of their namesakes to carve out their place in the world.

Echoes of Uncertain Silence | Yael Martinez | Cortona On The Move 2025

Of course being together is not always an abstract term. This is demonstrated in Echoes of Uncertain Silence by Yael Martinez. Working in association with Medecins Sans Frontieres along the migration route in Mexico. Martinez documents the informal camps resulting from recent measures adopted by the US government. Exposed to the elements, without access to basic services and at risk of violence and extortion, these people have been forced together to live in limbo. MSF works to combat this by helping to build an inclusive community, providing heathcare, psychological assistance and connecting migrants with the local population.

These exhibitions combined with many others come together to form Cortona On The Move 2025. The festival runs until November 2nd in Cortona, Italy, click here for opening times and ticket information.

Celebrating 15 years since the inception of the festival, Cortona On The Move will take place in Italy July 17^th – November 2^nd, 2025. Dedicated to photographic production, the festival is the point of reference for international photographers, curators, authors, critics and the public. Cortona On The Move focuses on documentary narrative. Examining themes that are contemporary and socially relevant.

During the festival exhibits and events are held throughout the medieval Tuscan town of Cortona. For the 2025 edition, these exhibits have been curated under the theme of “Come Together.” Selected by artistic director Paolo Woods after realising the division in the world, each display explores why reconciliation is the only option and considers how to achieve it – socially, politically and personally.

Many of these exhibits will be produced on Innova Art papers.

A wide spectrum of surfaces have been utilised to bring each exhibition to life, from resin coated photo papers to matte archival inkjet fine art finishes. Printed by Center Chrome at their facility in Florence, each print has been produced with careful consideration. Following production of the printed surface, Center Chrome use their complimentary skills in mounting and framing to create the highest standard of finish for display.

The process then passes over to the Cortona On The Move team who install the exhibits within the iconic buildings of the town itself. Ready for visitors to immerse themselves in the many stories on show and explore the vibrant community of Cortona.
