Harris Fogel's exhibition on FibaPrint Ultra Smooth Gloss at the Academy of Fine Arts, Warsaw, ran from 19 November 2007. Fogel has been a leading advocate of new technology for more than 25 years. As the host and executive producer of Mac Edition Radio, he has been reporting on the latest advances in IT, digital imaging software and hardware beginning with the Apple //c in 1984. Fogel is also one of the USA’s most eminent contemporary photographers and photographic educators. He is the former Chairman of the Media Arts Department (Photography, Film, Animation & Digital Video) and an Associate Professor of Photography at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia. His work is widely exhibited and is held in numerous and highly prestigious public and private collections. “I have been photographing in color with an 8x10-inch view camera for the past 20 years, and I was always frustrated trying to print the extraordinary range of detail, tone, and texture that such large format images can posses,” said Fogel. “The new Innova fiber-based digital papers such as the new FibaPrint Ultra Smooth Gloss have the look and feel of the papers I grew to love in the darkroom, and with the latest in printing technology, they offer the ability to hold even the subtlest details in the image, and the reproduction of colors and tones are unmatched. Smart Art, the company behind new website Novelistart.com have launched 20 limited edition prints of portraits of characters in John Steinbeck novels. The Story behind the project During the early  90's Kenny McKendry was commissioned to illustrate 13 images for a series of Steinbeck Novels being re-released in the UK at that time. In March 2005 whilst recovering from a life saving operation, Kenny started to read other Steinbeck novels and was inspired to recreate the main characters. New Light Editions, a provider of signed, limited edition fine art photography, has selected Innova Digital Art’s FibaPrint paper for producing the prints for Douglas Menuez’ box set “Transcendent Spirit: Orphans of Uganda.” The prints, a selection of images from his book by the same name, depict a group of orphans in Uganda, a country wracked by AIDS, war and poverty. A number of the children comprise the dance troop named “Spirit of Uganda,” that tours the world raising money for their fellow orphans and creating awareness of their plight. “Initially I was sceptical that a digital print process could meet the standard of quality I required for these images,” said Menuez. “I felt a deep responsibility to capture the essential experience of the children’s lives. As always, taking the photograph is half the work. To fully express the images, I knew the final prints would need to surpass the standard technical limits of tone and colour and deliver a breakthrough in quality. I'm very proud to present these exquisite prints from New Light Editions which I'm pleased to say exceeded all my expectations. The Innova paper produces images of unsurpassed quality, not just for digital prints but also for any printing method. And its archival properties match those of virtually any other photographic medium. Menuez’ work and the book were underwritten by Macy’s West and featured at Macy’s Passport XXV event, an annual fundraiser founded by Dame Elizabeth Taylor to support the fight against HIV/AIDS. Golf and Art enthusiasts can now buy a small piece of Golfing history, reproduced on Innova’s Book Art papers. Signature Golf Art have produced a collection of images charting golf legend Gary Players’s career, bound in a leather book each signed with a hand written message by Gary himself. Gary Player is winner of 9 Majors (including 3 Masters Tournaments) and played in his 50th Masters in April 2007, a rare streak in the history of one of golf’s treasured Major Championships. In order to celebrate this momentous occasion, the production of a commemorative book has been completed, “Gary Player – 50 Years at the Masters”. In Gary Player’s own words, the artifact records his thoughts, recollections and emotions about each of the years he played in the Masters, including details of his three Masters victories and a selection of photographs of the Masters over the past five decades. The books include 116 pages in a buffalo leather cover including a title foil with the selected year embossed. It is giclee printed with pigment inks with the text on smooth Cotton High White 225gsm and the spread pages on Soft Textured Natural White 315gsm. Many of you may now be using or have access to the new Z series printers from Hewlett Packard. Whilst these new printers give you the ability to create your own profiles, you will probably need some extra info on recommended settings to get the best print results. This is why HP have published a technical newsletter for working with Non-HP papers. It has recommendations for working with Innova papers and how to use a generic profile already created. Innova Art, transformed an exhibition wall with the stunning prints of David Osborn, British landscape photographer, at the recent Focus On Imaging show at the NEC in Birmingham. To support our resellers who were exhibiting, we supported them with a 18m wall of prints all printed on the Innova FibaPrint range. Particuarly featured by David, who prints all his own work with custom profiles on an Epson Pro 9800, was the new FibaPrint Ultra Smooth Gloss 285gsm from Innova. He has told us that with this new product which is smoother, glossier and slightly whiter than the original White Gloss 300gsm, that this is the closest digital paper he has seen to a traditional fibre based baryta darkroom paper.
