It’s not long to wait until the other season but first we get to enjoy all the art fairs that October has to offer…it may even be an opportunity to pick up some great gifts for the loved ones in your life. Art is not limited to London: it’s everywhere, and so are art fairs, take a look at the top ten that caught our eye in the list below. STROKE, 4th-8th October, Munich
Promoting ‘a fresh new approach on art, design and the urban lifestyle’. STROKE aims to fight the separation between ‘high’ and ‘low’ art by celebrating the creative influence of art, design, music or fashion on each other. Artist will be present throughout the fair where visitors can watch them work on murals, within exhibition booths and sketching on paper.
The Other Art Fair, 5th-8th October, London
All about artists representing themselves and selling their own work, The Other Art Fair is presented by Saatchi Art. Each contemporary artist at the show has been chosen by a committee of art industry experts, artworks to suit for all budgets will be available to purchase directly form the artists. Supporting the programme of exhibitors will be a program of events including guest artist appearances,, interactive theatre performances and live music.
Moniker Art Fair, 5th-8th October, London
Returning for its 8th edition Moniker celebrates urban contemporary art, bringing together international artists, galleries, collectors and art lovers. Frieze, 5th-8th October, London
This long established high point on the arts calendar returns to Regents Park to show more than 160 of the world’s leading galleries. Visitors can view and buy art from over 1000 contemporary artists and learn more through the Frieze projects and talks programmes.
Florence Biennale, 6-17th October, Florence
A showcase of major players in the contemporary art scene, Florence Biennale takes place every two years. Hosting a programme of events including conferences, exhibitions, performances, workshops and lectures, it is an opportunity to explore the influence of art on society both historically and in a contemporary context.
PURE Autumn Art Fair, 7th-15th October, Battle
In conjunction with the Battle Festival of Arts and Music PURE Autumn Art Fair showcases upcoming and established talent. Featuring work in all fine art mediums including painting, drawing, printmaking, digital art, photography, sculpture, ceramics and glass. A range of workshops and events will be taking place on selected days throughout the fair, check the website for full details.
Parallax ‘Art’ Fair, 21st-22nd October, London
With over 200 exhibitors and a whole range of art and design products from paintings and sculpture through to jewellery and textiles, Parallax is sure to have something for everyone. Entry is free so if you are planning to be near the King’s Rd this weekend, it may be worth a look.
Fiac! International Art Fair, 19th-22nd October, Paris
Located in the iconic Grand Palais, Fiac features a selection of galleries representing established and emerging modern and contemporary artists. A full programme of installations and performances will be on offer throughout the fair – check the website for full details.
Editions/Artists’ Books (E/AB) Fair, 26th-29th October, New York
A showcase for the discovery of new and contemporary work, E/AB has been dedicated to prints, multiples and artists’ books since it was established in 1998. Supported by a programme of artists talks, the fair presents a curated exhibition of work by hundreds of emerging and established artists.
Buy Art Fair, 27th-29th October, Manchester
A host of galleries from across the UK will be at Manchester Central with over 3,000 pieces of art for you to buy. There will also be a series of talks, classes and events throughout the course of the fair. So, if buying art isn’t your thing why not attend a print workshop or take the kids to have some fun in the Cass Art kids area.
